MI6 enters Bond into the tournament, believing that a defeat would force Le Chiffre to take asylum, spilling valuable information. Following a trail that leads him to the Bahamas, Bond discovers that corrupt official Alex Dimitrios (Simon Abkarian) has connections to Le Chiffre. After winning a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 at a poker game, he seduces Dimitrios’ wife, Solange (Caterina Murino). Bond later tracks Dimitrios to Miami, where he eliminates him after a bomb plot is thwarted at the airport involving a prototype airliner. A rookie James Bond earns his license to kill while attempting to bankrupt a terrorist financier, Le Chiffre. Bond is sent to Madagascar to infiltrate Le Chiffre's operation, leading him across international locations including the Bahamas and Montenegro. The mission culminates in a high-stakes poker game at Casino Royale, where Bond must use his skills to defeat Le Chiffre and expose his network.
Despite a setback where Le Chiffre initially wins the pot, Bond ultimately triumphs with the help of Vesper and CIA agent Felix Leiter. However, the victory is short-lived as Bond and Vesper are captured and tortured by Le Chiffre. The situation takes a dramatic turn when Mr. White, an enigmatic figure from a shadowy organization, kills Le Chiffre to prevent him from revealing any secrets. Casino Royale was developed as a reboot of the James Bond franchise, aiming to reintroduce the character with a more realistic and grounded approach. Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli sought to adapt Ian Fleming’s first Bond novel, Casino Royale, which had never been officially filmed in the EON series. Martin Campbell, who successfully directed GoldenEye, was brought back to helm the project. Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced on 26 July 2006 Chris Cornell had composed and would perform the title song, "You Know My Name".
